Thursday Throwback… 40 Years Back!

I don’t feel like I’ve been alive 40 years. Then again being ADHD no doubt, I lose track when counting..particularly when counting years.

While looking online for pictures of Fontainebleau Academy (where I studied music at she 17) I came across something I’d never seen before. A picture from 40 years ago, when I was a student. BLEW MY MIND! (We needed cameras, as opposed to cell phones to take pics bsck then. I have only a handful of photos from my youth.

So…just in time for Throwback Thursday, (or whatever it’s called,) here’s my version of a flashback to France in 1974…

I acknowledge that this is a totally self indulgent post. That being said, this is the piece I played for my audition on my first day (after being chased by a bat in my bedroom) when Mlle invited me to stay and study with her in Paris at the end of the summer session. (Clearly this is not me playing!)

It was nowhere near as complicated a piece as what all the others were playing. I guess she liked my technique “sensitivity”. (Her word, not mine.) The only other student she asked to remain, did so and ended up doing world concert tours.

I declined, not wishing to waste her valuable time, as I wanted to be an singer and actress. I have No Regrets Whatsoever ! I was honored to have been asked.

Here I am decades later taking up that torch once more…
